Dear fellow Deviants,
It's been ages since I even looked at this site! Hardly anything has changed. It's kind of nice!
The reason I'm here is because I'm writing a feature article for my journalism class at the University of Victoria, and I need some sources. I'm still in the brainstorming stages, but deadlines come quickly, so let me tell you what it's about and maybe you can help me out.
I'm writing about copyright infringement and photo-sharing websites' access to photographers' work. I'm looking for anyone who's had copyright issues with their photography. I'm not necessarily looking for someone whose work was appropriated by a corporation, but I'd love to get a chance to speak with those who've faced something like this, even if it was just with an individual. If anyone is willing to talk about their experiences, or have general comments about DeviantArt or similar sites in relation to this issue, I'd love to hear those as well.
On a more personal note, I think the last time I was on here, I was trying to get into UVic. Well, I'm in third-year now, Majoring in Creative Nonfiction and Minoring in Professional Writing, and yes they are different, and no I'm not interested in becoming a journalist. I've been far too busy writing for school to write for myself lately, and photography is on the back-burner, though I do what I can when I find the time. However, free time is usually allotted to sleep or catching up on workshop critiques. Speaking of which, I've got a ton to do for tomorrow! Such is the life of a uni. student...
I'll consider re-awakening my DeviantART account, but I can't promise anything. Not that any of my watchers really remembers me anyway, but DA was a good way of getting feedback on my work. We'll see!
Cheers,
Oriana
